GenSan's Tuna Festival 2019 is a great success!

By itsmejamesrhed - September 08, 2019

This year's Tuna Fest nailed the most unforgettable experience.

The "Tuna Capital of the Philippines” and known as the "Home of the Champions" celebrated the Tuna Festival 2019 which happened last August 30 to September 5, 2019, in celebration of General Santos City's 51st inauguration anniversary.

This year's theme is "Experience New Flavors" because they want all the Generals to experience something new.

Series of events happened that makes everyone feels a great experience as the festival offers great entertainment and colorful visuals all over the city.

So here are some of the events I attended.

SUGBAHAN SA DALAN

One of the highlights is the grilling of Tunas on the street. A yearly tradition in General Santos City that situated in Pioneer Avenue, after being grilled, everyone is entitled to eat.

TUNA CULINARY EXCHANGE

Another stop is the Tuna Culinary Exchange held at Gaisano Mall of GenSan which participated by the students from Pampanga and General Santos City.

STREET DANCING

Festival wouldn't be complete without the street dancing. All the  Generals were gathered in the street to witness the colorful parade.

FLOAT PARADE

Few contingents joined this event coming from different barangays in General Santos. All the floats were styled according to the theme of the Festival.

CHEERDANCE COMPETITION

People of General Santos City also enjoyed the Cheerdance Competition. Five (5) participating schools attended the competition and all of them did a great job!

TUGTOG AT SAYAW

This event is participated by the young ones. The elementary pupils of GenSan showcased their talents in playing instruments and how graceful they dance.

NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT

Being known as the "Home of the Champions" the generals also showed their different talents like singing, dancing, fashion modeling, and other skills to entertain the night.

THE BLOGGERS

To help promote the festival, all the bloggers from the Mindanao were invited to cover and broadcasts the highlights of the festival in our respective social media accounts. But, what interests us more is to enjoy the food in the locality.

The welcome lunch of Mindanao Bloggers.

THE POST TEXAS BISTRO

The authentic Texan Smokehouse. A resto that brought Texas in Pinas.

TAHO (Silken Tofu)

TAMBILAWAN KAMAYAN RESTAURANT

The only halal-certified in GenSan. Tambilawan is the name of the grandfather of the owner.

So, all in all, it was a great tuna fest experience! Truly everyone experienced new flavors!
